Mary Elizabeth Guido, age 85, passed away on March 31, 2025 in Janesville, Wisconsin. She was born in Santa Monica, California on August 5th, 1939 to Helen Lucile (nee Wuerth) and Edward J. McDonough. Edward died in 1941 and Mary was adopted by her stepfather Firmin J. Krieger in 1944. She was known as Mary Krieger throughout her formative years and early career. In 1964 she married Joseph Guido in Chicago and moved to Delavan, Wisconsin in 1978 and Janesville in 2017. Mary was a graduate of Marquette University and worked as a speech-language pathologist in Chicago Public Schools for 15 years and then the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan for 19 years.
Mary is survived by her son Colonel Joseph Guido, wife Heather Farrell and granddaughter Leila Farrell as well as Mary’s daughter Lisa Guido, her partner Giuliano Schmid, and their children Grace and Valerio Schmid.
Mary’s siblings include Margaret Dorchester of Mill Creek, Washington, Anne Jones of North Agusta, South Carolina, John Krieger of Mechanicsville, Georgia and the late James Krieger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends of the Lakeland School, PO Box 1361, Lake Geneva 53147.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 18, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 315 Cherry Street in Janesville, WI. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery on August 19, 2025 at 11 AM.
