Kathleen G Engstrom, age 76, of Janesville passed away at Javon Bea Hospital, Rockford, IL on March 28, 2026. She was born in Chicago, IL on October 10, 1949, the daughter of George and Charlotte (Steinbrecker) Trezek. Kathy grew up in Brodhead, WI where she graduated from high school. She attended Patricia Stevens College in Milwaukee after high school.
Kathy married Robert A. Engstrom on May 10, 1969. Kathy always took pride in her family and friends. She had a strong belief in God. She always said, “A clean house and a house with God in it is a happy house”. She had a passion for gardening and took great love in preparing for family holidays. Kathy was an active member of First Lutheran Church where she volunteered with many different organizations. She worked at DeVere Chemical Company in the office but always made home priority. Kathy will be remembered for her love of helping others and being a great friend.
Kathleen Engstrom is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Engstrom; three children: Chris (Lisa) Engstrom, Nick Engstrom, Angela (Derek Landsaw) Horkan; three grandchildren: Eric Engstrom, Tyler Horkan, Kayla Horkan; two sisters: Darlene Brewer and Cheryl Staven; one brother: Tim (Jan) Trezek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Trezek and a sister, Mary Lee Markee.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 612 N. Randall Avenue, Janesville followed by a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Rev. Micheal Mueller will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
