James V. “Reggie” Hedgecock of Janesville, WI passed away at his home on December 31, 2025. He was born July 28, 1943 to William H. and Elaine (Burrington) Hedgecock. He was the youngest of six kids. According to his sister, he was a “brat”. Born and raised in Janesville, he graduated from Janesville Senior High School in 1961. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1963. Upon returning to Janesville, he went to work for the Milwaukee Road railroad for 17 years and then the United States Post Office until his retirement in 2001.
Supposedly retiring for health concerns, everyone knew it was because work was taking up too much of his fishing time. Although Jim loved both of his wives and his family, fishing was the true love of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were his serenity, it was his peace.
Jim was a blessed man to have met and married his first wife, Karen (Kessler). Together they had two daughters, Marguerite (Charles) Riemer and Jamie (Kevin) Rasmussen. They were married for 40 years until her death in 2009. He was then blessed again by reuniting with his high school sweetheart, Jane Liljegren. Together they continued the dance, bringing renewed happiness and life for the last 12 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elaine, his brothers, Billy, Bobby, Daryl, sister, Janine and his first wife, Karen. He is survived by his wife, Jane, his brother, David, his daughters, Margie and Jamie. His grandchildren, James Riemer, Rylee and Josie Rasmussen and too many nieces and nephews to name (You know who you are)
His daughters would like to thank Jane for keeping the promise and allowing Jim to be at home. For being there and taking care of him to the end.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Research. HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family. Online condolences may be sent to www.henkeclarson.com.
