Elizabeth Jean Kuranz

Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Kuranz of Janesville, WI passed away on May 19, 2026 at age 94. Betty was born on August 22, 1931 in Belvidere, IL to Clifford and Mildred (Fleming) tubbin. She grew up in Marengo, IL where she attended school and met the love of her life, Bob Kuranz. Betty went to nurses training in Rockford, Il and after graduation, she and Bob were married September 20, 1952 in Galena, IL. They spent 63 wonderful years together and were blessed with three children; Steven, Sandy and Jody. Betty worked as a registered nurse in Rockford, Beloit and Janesville over her 35 year career.

When Betty and Bob first moved to Janesville, they became members of First Presbyterian Church in downtown Janesville where she taught Sunday School. They eventually became members of Rock Prairie Presbyterian Church where she belonged to two circles and sang in the choir. She and Bob enjoyed traveling. They visited most of the states in the United States and traveled extensively in Europe. They enjoyed vacationing in Northern Wisconsin, Canada and Colorado. Betty loved to paint and worked with porcelain, oils, and water color. She had a great appreciation for antiques and belonged to the Monterey Questers for 38 years. She enjoyed playing bridge with a fun group of her friends. Betty also loved gardening and belonged to the Janesville Garden Club. She enjoyed the outdoors and took great joy in feeding the birds.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Bernie) Skaife, Jody (Jack) Stoiber; grandchildren: Brian (Tara) Skaife, Trevor (Lindsey) Skaife, Addy Stoiber and Jeremy (Brittany Kennedy) Stoiber; great-grandchildren: Stephen, Ryan, Clara, and Gus Skaife; brother-in-law, Kyle (Billie) Kuranz; special cousin, Mitzi Wagner as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert and her son Steven.

A funeral service will be held at ROCK PRAIRIE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 8605 East County Road A, Janesville at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2026. Rev. Dr. Bruce A. Jones will officiate. Visitation will be at the CHURCH from 10 to 11 a.m. June 5th. Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Rock Prairie Presbyterian Church or the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Betty Kuranz’ family is being assisted by HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME.
