Deanna Louise (Birkholz) Cox, age 87, of Janesville, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 28, 2025. She was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, on November 1, 1937, the youngest child of Herman W. and Myrtle C. (Reinke) Birkholz. Deanna married Ronald F. Cox on August 16, 1958. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she remained a member until 1971, when the family transferred to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Together, she and Ron had five children. She is survived by their children, Lynda Cox, Timothy (Robin) Cox, David (Coleen) Cox, Andrew Cox, Rebecca Krausen (Richard Freiwald); nine grandchildren, Ashley Cox and Austin (Anna) Cox, Taylor Cox, Kayla (Dean) Sjostedt, Kara Cox, Rachelle (Andrew) Webster, Ryley (Marissa) Krausen, Ryan (Alexandria) Krausen, and Reid (Kelsie) Krausen. Other survivors include her sisters-in-law, Nancy Mulford and Lorna Schiefelbein as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; parents, Herman and Myrtle Birkholz; sisters, Dolores Swanson, Marilyn Swanson, and Barbara Libby; and brothers-in-law, Charles Swanson, Stanley Lowry, Jack Libby, Robert Mulford, and Brent Scheifelbein.
Throughout her life, Deanna cherished both the beauty of the outdoors and the comforts of home. She found joy in camping trips with her family, tending the garden alongside Ron, and pouring her heart into raising their children. She loved collecting angels and hosting holidays, where her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the sweet smell of her homemade sugar cookies. Her life was grounded in love, family, and faith. In her final chapter, she and her family were deeply grateful for the compassionate care and support provided at home by both loved ones and Mercy Health Hospice.
