Christopher Steven Marx (42), of Janesville, WI, passed away peacefully at home on July 9th, 2026.
Born on November 4th, 1983, he was the child of Pamela and Steven Marx. Chris graduated from Craig High School in Janesville in 2002. He then went to Ritop School of Mobile Electronics in Boston, MA where he earned his MECP certification. He spent years installing car audio equipment at several companies and loved being an audiophile. In 2016 he received a degree in welding from Blackhawk Technical College and went on to weld at BouMatic and United Alloy. Chris decided that a change of scenery would be nice and upon moving to Henderson, NV he decided to put his strong desire of helping people, specifically those dealing with drug addition, to use and worked at several recovery centers including WestCare where he earned the title of WestCare CIC employee of the year in 2020 and even gave a presentation to Hillary Clinton. After several years he would return to his home in Janesville, WI where he worked as a welder and fabricator at COMO Filtration Systems with his brother Kyle.
Chris was incredibly empathetic, passionate, creative, and funny. When he wasn't working, he found joy in music, carpentry, skateboarding, and self-improvement. He found the most peace when he was able to be amongst nature, whether that was fishing up north, hiking in the woods, or being by the ocean out in San Diego. His desire to help others gave him a deep purpose in life. From working in the recovery centers, to spending his free time with others battling addiction, to the small day-to-day favors for friends or family, he would give the shirt off his back if it meant someone else wouldn't have to struggle. For those who knew him, he will mostly be remembered for his humor. He was the funniest person in every room and would do absolutely anything to get people to crack up. His quick wit, humor, and empathy made him a very magnetic personality. People truly loved him, and he loved them right back. One person he truly loved and cherished is his daughter Madison, the light of his life. He was never seen smiling so much and so genuinely as when he was able to spend time with her.
Chris is survived by his daughter Madison "Maddie", his parents Steve and Pam Marx, brother Kyle (Amanda) Marx, Aunt Christine (Ken Simmons) Marx, Aunt Rosemary (Chris Frazier) Fairhall, cousins Adam and Emily, former spouse Brittany Bonk, and extended family and friends. Chris is preceded in death by Grandparents Bill Marx, Lucille Roesler, Elling and JoAnn Haugan, as well as Aunts Deb Haugan and Connie Marx.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family would appreciate contributions made to an education fund that will be set up for Chris's daughter Madison.
There will be a Celebration of Life to honor Chris
