Audrey Yvonne Steinmetz

Audrey Yvonne Steinmetz of Janesville, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away on July 27, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Janesville after a short illness, at age 94.

Audrey was born in Janesville on March 18, 1932, the daughter of Percy and Glen (Hackett) Thomas. She graduated from Janesville High School, worked multiple jobs and retired from the Janesville Public Library. She married Bruce Steinmetz on July 3, 1953. They were married for 65 years until his passing in 2018.

Audrey is survived by three children, Michael (Elizabeth) Steinmetz of Plano, TX, Kathryn Steinmetz of Janesville, and Robert (Amy) Steinmetz of Stoughton; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Arnott of Plano, TX, and Noah Steinmetz of Stoughton; great-grandchild, Grayson Casebere of Plano, TX; and a brother, Ronald (Helen) Thomas of Alabama. In addition to her parents and husband, Audrey was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Dorothy Thomas; and sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Dr. Henry Wick.

Audrey’s faith was very important to her and through the years she was active in several churches in Janesville. She loved family, reading, doing puzzles, playing family games and puttering whenever she had the chance. She looked forward to seeing her children each summer at a Wisconsin resort. Audrey was loved by many and will be missed. She was a woman of thoughtfulness, kindness and taught her children well.

A visitation to honor Audrey’s life will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Private interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park at a later date.
